RPTQ LAST CHANCE QUALIFIER

QUALIFICATION

Regional Pro Tour Qualifiers are an invitation-only event. An invitation to participate in a Regional Pro Tour Qualifier for Pro Tour Aether Revolt is offered to the following:

  • ・Players who have a Pro Tour Players Club Silver level (as of the date of the Regional Pro Tour Qualifier).
  • ・Players that won a Preliminary Pro Tour Qualifier from Jun 18, 2016 to Oct 9, 2016.
  • ・Players that finished -1st through 8th-place at a Regional Pro Tour Qualifier for Pro Tour kaladesh.
  • ・Players that have won a Regional Last Chance Qualifier that ties to that Regional Pro Tour Qualifier.

The following players may not compete in Regional Pro Tour Qualifiers for Pro Tour Aether Revolt:

  • -Players that previously participated in a Regional Pro Tour Qualifier which awards an invitation to Pro Tour Aether Revolt.
  • -Players that won a Magic Online Pro Tour Qualifier Final which awards an invitation to Pro Tour Aether Revolt.
  • -Players that won a Magic Online Championship Series (MOCS) Playoff tournament which awards invitations to Pro Tour Aether Revolt.
  • -Players that finished in the Top 8 or finished with 39 or more match points in an individual-format Grand Prix which awards invitations to Pro Tour Aether Revolt.
  • -Players that finished in the Top 4 or finished with 36 or more match points in a team-format Grand Prix which awards invitations to Pro Tour Aether Revolt.
  • -Players that finished with 33 or more match points at Pro Tour Kaladesh.
  • -Players with a Pro Tour Players Club Gold or Platinum level (as of the date of the Regional Pro Tour Qualifier).
  • -Players who are members of the Pro Tour Hall of Fame.
  • -Players that are otherwise already qualified for Pro Tour Aether Revolt

Players who have successfully pre-registered are required to arrive at the tournament venue between 9:00am-10:00am on the day of the tournament.

TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE

The structure for Regional Pro Tour Qualifiers is modified Swiss-style.
The top finishing players after the Swiss rounds play in one single-elimination playoff match to determine a Top 4.

Please carefully follow the instructions and make sure to submit a decklist before the start of the RPTQ.
If you would like to submit a decklist by paper, you must hand it in before 10:00am on the day of the RPTQ.

TOURNAMENT LENGTH AND ADVANCEMENT

Swiss rounds are 50 minutes.
Single-elimination playoff matches have no time limit.
The number of Swiss rounds is commensurate with attendance as follows:

33-64 players 6 Swiss rounds followed by single-elimination Top 8
65-128 players 7 Swiss rounds followed by single-elimination Top 8
129-226 players 8 Swiss rounds followed by single-elimination Top 8

PLAYOFF

  • -While there are no time limits in the playoff rounds, players are expected to play at a reasonable pace and finish their matches within 60 minutes.
  • -Standings after the Swiss rounds will be used to determine final order in the standings for losing players in the quarterfinal and semifinal playoff rounds.
  • -For the first game of each match in the playoff, the player who finished higher in the Swiss rounds chooses either to play first or to play second. For subsequent games in each playoff match, the usual Play/Draw rule applies (loser of the previous game decides whether to play first in the next game).

Snapcaster Mage
  • -All participants in a Regional Pro Tour Qualifier receive an exclusive Snapcaster Mage promo card.
  • -All participants in a Regional Pro Tour Qualifier receive an exclusive deck box.
  • -The Top 4 of each Regional PTQ s receive an invitation and travel award* to the first Pro Tour of 2017.
  • -All RPTQs will offer 1st through 8th place invitations to the next round of RPTQs, regardless of size.
  • -The Top 16 players in each Regional PTQ will receive a Regional PTQ playmat.
  • -Booster Prizes will be awarded as follows:
1st - 4th (-)
5th - 8th (54)
9th - 16th (36)
17th - 24th (18)

*Travel

The players eligible to receive a travel award will receive instructions from Wizards of the Coast regarding whom they must contact and the deadline by which they must arrange their travel awards. Wizards of the Coast will not refund travel made outside this service. Wizards of the Coast reserves the right to award a cash equivalent award in lieu of any travel award in its sole discretion.

All travel itineraries must be from the international airport nearest the player's home and to the host city of the Pro Tour, and must include all the dates of that event. No award will be substituted if member is unable to participate. All other expenses are the responsibility of the member and may include, without limitation, accommodations, ground transportation, taxes, itinerary change fees, passport and visa fees.

This award must be redeemed through member's arrangement of travel itinerary no later than (30) days before departure. Failure to complete travel arrangements as directed by Wizards of the Coast prior to this deadline will result in forfeiture of the award. Every member receiving a travel award must provide to Wizards of the Coast an executed liability release, the appropriate US taxation form (W9 or W8) (or have one on file), up-to-date contact information on your DCI membership, and proof of ID and passport (when required by international destination). In all cases, all such documentation must be provided to Wizards of the Coast, or must have been previously on file, at least thirty (30) days before departure. Failure to timely provide such documentation will result in forfeiture of the award.

Players under the age of eighteen (18) at the time of the Pro Tour will receive a cash equivalent award in lieu of expenses, paid air ticket, and/or hotel accommodations. Such player must still attend, compete, and be listed in the finish of the tournament or forfeit this award.
