※Update (July 26):
Please note that the distribution of card sleeves has ended, as the total number of participants has reached the limit.
This casual gathering is based on the "Bracket 2" standard, prioritizing the enjoyment of the entire table. Of course, that doesn't mean we aren't aiming to win; rather, we want players who—while desiring their own victory—also want their tablemates to leave with fun and memorable experiences. If that sounds like your mindset, we highly encourage you to play in this "Amakuchi" (Casual/Light) category.
The "Amakuchi" category is also recommended if you are participating with a pre-constructed deck exactly as-is. While there are power differences between pre-constructed decks, the goal of this category is to enjoy the game while embracing those differences!
Games are played at tables of four by default, though groups may range from 3 to 5 players depending on the total number of participants. A total of two games will be played, with table reshuffling occurring between rounds. You may change your deck for each round.
For more details on the bracket system, please refer to
this article.
Each game consists of a 5-minute pre-game discussion to align deck levels and Commanders (often called "Rule 0") followed by 70 minutes of gameplay, for a total of 75 minutes. If the game does not conclude within the time limit, play may continue for up to 3 additional minutes if it appears the game will resolve before the stack clears. If no winner is determined by then, the player with the highest life total wins (in the event of a tie, the winner is the player seated furthest back in the turn order).
Once a winner is determined, the participants at the table must vote to decide on a "Democratic Winner" for the game.
Players who earn the "Democratic Winner" award will have the opportunity to have their decklist published. If interested, please register your deck and notify the staff on the day of the event.
Participation is on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration will close once the event reaches full capacity.
If you are participating with a deck intended for Bracket 3, please keep in mind that this is a social gathering where the enjoyment of the entire table takes precedence. Please participate with an understanding of the intent behind Bracket 2 and the expectations associated with it.
Expectations for Bracket 2:
・Decks are not highly optimized or overly complex; they include cards chosen for creativity and entertainment value.
・Win conditions are incremental, visible on the board, and open to interaction or disruption.
・Gameplay is low-pressure and focuses on social interaction.
・Gameplay is proactive and considerate, creating an environment where players can showcase their decks' strategies.
